About Redirect, and the person who builds it.

The person behind Redirect

Redirect is built by Monish Meher, a solo founder and behavioral product engineer based in Nuremberg, Germany. He works under his sole proprietorship, Meher Technologies, and describes his work as being a Behavioral Architect: someone who turns behavioral science into software.

He designs, engineers and writes everything on this site and in the extension. He also builds Rewire, a dopamine detox app for iPhone that uses daily micro-interventions from behavioral research to help people break bad habits and cut screen time. Redirect is its desktop sibling: the same idea of working with human habits instead of fighting them, applied to the browser.

Why Redirect exists

Every website blocker I tried failed the same way. It put up a wall, I got annoyed, and two clicks later the wall was gone. The problem was never that blocking was impossible. It was that nothing stood between the urge and the click except a switch I could flip.

So Redirect does two things differently. When you open a site you told it to guard, it does not show you a dead end. It sends you to the goals you wrote down. And when you genuinely want in, you can have a break, but it costs a little effort first: type a short paragraph, write down why, solve a few sums, breathe, or wait a minute. Most of the time, the urge passes before the task is done. When it does not, you get in on purpose.

I built it for myself first. It is the tool I wanted when a quick look at YouTube kept turning into an hour.
